Alka Raman

Alka is a PhD student in Economic History at the London School of Economics. Her doctoral research examines the impact of Indian cotton textiles on industrialisation in the early British cotton industry, during the 18th and 19th centuries. Her interests include history of technological change, import substitution industrialisation, textile history, history of the empire and trans-Atlantic trade in the pre-modern period. She holds an MSc (Research) in Economic History from London School of Economics, and an MA and BA (Honours) in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.
