Amal is a PhD Candidate in the Department of International History at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, and holds an MSc in Economic History Research from LSE. She is currently working on colonial famine relief administration through employment of famine labour on construction of public works c. 1860-1920. Her research interests include labour studies, global and Indian history, history of empires, economic anthropology, and cliometrics.
