This year’s Genealogies of Memory conference will focus on the intergenerational transmission of trauma and the enduring presence of the past in contemporary identities and conflicts. The event will examine processes of transgenerational memory, the tension between hegemonic narratives and counter-memories, artistic and reconstructive practices, and the challenges of digitally mediated memory cultures.
With a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective, the conference invites scholars from diverse fields to reflect on how trauma is transmitted, reconstructed, and reinterpreted across generations.
There is no conference fee. Accommodation will be provided for accepted speakers.
The deadline for proposal submissions is 3 May 2026.
