TENSIONS IN TAXING INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS IN THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY
This conference offers an important opportunity to consider historical and contemporary perspectives on the question of where responsibility for corporate taxation and tax ‘avoidance’ lies – with multinational enterprise, individual states, supranational organisations or some combination of all of these. Little is known about how politicians and business leaders over the long-term have dealt with the international coordination of corporate taxation as tax strategies and tax management has evolved.
