Women's Committee Online Book Club - Quakers in the British-Atlantic World
Date / time
13/10/2021, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

We are excited to announce the second Women’s Committee Book Club event. This time, Esther Sahle, University of Münster, will talk about her new book, Quakers in the British-Atlantic World, c.1660-1800 (May 2021). This book is the latest in the series ‘People, Markets, Goods: Economies and Societies in History’, published by Boydell and Brewer in conjunction with the Economic History Society.

Her book investigates the ways in which Quakers earned, or rather, constructed, their reputation for honesty in business dealings. As with our first book club, Esther’s presentation will focus on the methodologies, sources and historiographical approaches and contributions of her work – in order to foster a discussion around these themes.

In advance, you can read a précis of Esther’s book online.

Register for the book club now.
