The Aaron Graham Memorial Lecture in Economic and Social History was established in 2024 to honour the memory of Dr Aaron Graham (1984-2023) and celebrate his outstanding contributions to the field.
Dr Graham was a dedicated member of the Economic History Society, a regular contributor to its Annual Conferences, and a valued member of the EHS Awards and Prizes Committee at the time of his passing. A tribute to Dr Graham was posted to our Long Run blog, written by Patrick Walsh. He was also a prominent figure in the IHR Economic and Social History of the Early Modern World seminar series.
The inaugural lecture in 2024 was funded by UCL History, and in 2025, the Economic History Society established a restricted fund to support the costs of this annual event. Members of the academic community, friends and former collaborators, and those who wish to sustain this lecture as a lasting tribute to Aaron’s scholarship are warmly invited to contribute. The fund will cover the travel and accommodation expenses of the invited speaker, as well as costs associated with publicity. Each lecture, along with a modest reception in Aaron’s honour, will be hosted and funded by UCL History. Any excess funds will be retained in a restricted fund and used solely for the purpose of supporting the legacy of Aaron’s valuable academic contributions.
Contributions to the fund are eligible for Gift Aid. To apply Gift Aid to your donation, you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid at least as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax as the amount reclaimed by all charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) you donate to in that tax year. You can declare your donation as eligible for Gift Aid as part of the donation process. Please note, we can only claim Gift Aid when you provide your full name and address.
