The Spring conference of the British Agricultural History will take place on 2nd May at Channing Hall in Sheffield.

12.00-13.00 – Session 2

  • Claudia Soares – ‘The Great Lone Land: Emotions, Environment and Child Migration, c.1870-1920’

13.00 – Lunch

13.30 – AGM (for society members)

14.15-16.15 – Session 3: Ecological and environment approaches to the rural past and present

  • Ian Rotherham – ‘Apart from Nature or a part of Nature: The implications of Cultural Severance, the Eco-cultural Commons, and studies from northern England’
  • Fred Bricknell – ‘Living with water shocks: Vernacular water knowledges and community action in early modern England’
