The Economic History Society, in conjunction with Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, will be hosting our first online super-curricular Economic History Masterclass on Saturday 23 September 2023. The sessions are aimed at Y12s and Y13s (or equivalents) and will be chance for students to explore what Economic History is all about, with two academic lectures, an admissions talk, and a chance to hear from undergrads who have specialised into it.

10:15-10:30: Welcome and introduction to Economic History with Dr Charles Read
10:30-11:15: Talk 1 – Leigh Shaw-Taylor, “The Industrial Revolution”
11:15-12:00: Studying economic history at university roundtable (representatives from Cambridge, LSE, Glasgow and the Economic History Society)
12:00-13:00: Break for lunch
13:00-14:00: Corpus admissions talk and undergraduate Q&A
14:00-14:45: Talk 2 – Charles Read, “The Irish Famine and the British Financial Crises of 1847 and 2022”
This event is open to all students; there are no eligibility criteria.
