Few figures in British economics are more interesting and outspoken than Lord Skidelsky. In his latest book, ‘Money and Government: A Challenge to Mainstream Economics’ (Penguin, 2018), Skidelsky questioned the consensus model in macroeconomics.
He revisited the virtues of the Keynesian alternative, in which the government plays an active role in a modern economy and, in particular, sees fiscal policy as an important ingredient of macroeconomic management.
