The Public Engagement Committee of the EHS seeks expressions of interest from members who wish to become more involved in the committee’s work. We are expanding the committee and its work in preparation for the Centenary of the EHS in 2026, which will be a celebration of the Society’s support of economic and social history, and we would like to draw people from across career stages and the world to help the Public Engagement Committee mark this important occasion for the EHS.

The Public Engagement Committee is responsible for the development of the Society’s communication and IT strategy, which includes all matters relating to the Society’s website. It is also responsible for initiating and coordinating publicity for the Society, particularly relating to the annual conference; liaising with and monitoring the activities of any media consultant(s) the Society might engage; actively encouraging the use of social media for the benefit of the Society; facilitating and encouraging public engagement by members of the Society; offering advice to colleagues on media and public engagement matters.

Expressions of interest, accompanied by a short biography, can be sent to the Society’s administrators by 31 October 2025.
For any queries about becoming more involved in the Public Engagement Committee’s work, please contact Dr Charles Read, the Chair of the PEC.
