Women and the gendered experience of law: Peasant women and customary law in thirteenth- and fourteenth-century Hampshire

The EHS bursary allowed me to complete the remaining two chapters of my thesis, on women’s landholding and the view of frankpledge. These chapters took a more thematic approach than my previous chapters and clarified the primary arguments of my thesis. The financial relief that the bursary provided allowed me to significantly refine my thesis, for which I am deeply grateful. I am awaiting the last feedback on my thesis from my supervisors, to be incorporated before submission by the end of September 2026.
