Media, public discourse and the Miners’ Strike, 1984-85

During the bursary award year, I successfully completed a full draft of all five chapters of my thesis, which examines media coverage of the 1984-85 miners’ strike. The £1,000 bursary from the Economic and Social History Society was pivotal in enabling this progress by allowing me to reduce my marking commitments and dedicate more time and focus to writing the chapters. This additional time was crucial for deepening my analysis, particularly of the oral interviews with journalists who covered the strike. All my efforts were focused on advancing and finalizing the thesis draft, putting me on track for a timely completion.
