Credit, Debt, and Social Relations in the Late Roman West, c. 300 – 500 AD

The EHS PhD Bursary Scheme proved invaluable during my writing-up year, when I revised and wrote chapters, as well as the introduction and conclusion. I also presented papers at events in the UK and abroad, had chapters accepted for publication in forthcoming edited volumes, co-organised the conference Poverty Dynamics in the Long Late Antiquity at St Andrews, and am currently preparing an article for submission by the end of 2026. The bursary helped me cover accommodation and transport costs during a period of rising living costs. I could not have completed my PhD with the same success without this funding.
