Tirthankar Roy is Professor of Economic History, London School of Economics and Political Science. His research areas are South Asian history and development, colonialism, and environmental history. He is the author of A Business History of India: Enterprise and the Emergence of Capitalism since 1700 (2018); An Economic History of Colonialism (with Leigh Gardner, 2020); Law and the Economy in a Young Democracy: India since 1947 (with Anand Swamy, forthcoming), and Monsoon Economies: India’s History in a Changing Climate (forthcoming).
