Women and the nation in early Italian cinema, 1905-1914

The EHS bursary was invaluable in allowing me to complete the final year of my doctoral research. My final year has been very productive, both in writing up my thesis and in making connections across the academic disciplines my PhD encompasses. I am the only person in the UK to be writing a PhD on women in early Italian film, research into this field is already on the periphery of scholarship in Italian studies, and even more so in languages outside of Italian. My research has also led me to presenting my thesis as part of an exhibition in mid-2025.
