The cultures of brewing: The production and consumption of beer and ale in Aberdeen, Scotland, 1600-1900
I cannot express enough gratitude towards the Economic History Society for their generous bursary award. My thesis, which focuses on the cultural, social and economic impact of the production and consumption of beer and ale in Aberdeen, has greatly benefited. The award has allowed me to travel to archives that have been, for so long, closed to researchers and gather the archival materials needed to complete my research. It has also provided me with a sense of financial security, through a time when many of us lost our part time jobs. Additionally, I have been able to present my research at the Popular Culture Association of America’s international conference.
