Timber imports and the British economy, 1750-1850
My thesis presents the estimates of the volume of timber imported by Britain from 1750 to 1850. During this one-hundred-year period British population rose at an unprecedented rate, and consequently, increased the pressure on the fixed supply of land. In my thesis I explore the question: Did timber imports facilitate Britain’s transition to modern economic growth?
At the time of the rising living costs when I had no financial support, the EHS bursary provided economic relief and eased the pressure on my finances. Many thanks EHS.
