Evolutionary State: How Rebellions Affected State Formation in Mughal India (1555-1707)?

My dissertation studies the long-term effects of internal conflict on state development in Mughal South Asia. A large part of my research has involved building a conflict database for the region. I am very grateful to the Economic History Society for awarding me the EHS bursary. During a period of time where access to libraries has been limited, the bursary has enabled me to buy books and materials that were essential for building my database. Additionally, it has allowed me to advance my Farsi language skills, substantially improving my ability to work with source material. Due to the society’s generosity, I have been able to complete and present my research a number of times this year, gaining valuable feedback for my work.
