‘Mejore, no se mude!’ Sustainable activism and community reclamation of space in New York City, 1964-2001

Thanks to the generous support of the EHS PhD Bursary Scheme, I was fortunate enough to afford conference and research travel on two distinct occasions: (1) paper presentation at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association in Atlanta in January 2016 and (2) research travel to NYC in April 2016. The AHA conference provided me with the opportunity to meet leading figures in my field while the New York trip was spent examining rare organisational records of Puerto Rican community groups in the Lower East Side. I submitted the AHA paper to a peer-reviewed journal in May 2016.
