Postan Fellow, 2025/26

Uziel is an economic historian of Latin America with a particular focus on the region’s financial history since 1925. He completed his DPhil at Oxford in 2025 with a dissertation examining the broader architecture of the postwar international monetary system through the experiences of Chile and Argentina. His doctoral research highlights how systemic developments, from the global dollar shortage after 1945 to the ad hoc mechanisms created in the 1960s to sustain Bretton Woods, were truly global in scope. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the EHS, Uziel is investigating the origins of the ‘Paris Club’, a multilateral yet informal forum for debt renegotiation established in the 1950s and still active in restructuring developing-country debt.
